I agree, important point about the hybrid Maverick, it’s not AWD like the Santa Cruz is. For some, that may be an important factor.

Most places around me have a minimum wage of $15/hr, and most servers (with tips) earn ~$20/hr or more. I think making $10-20k per year is plenty enough to buy a beater (<$6,000). Which yesterday’s QOTD outlined there are plenty of decent rides out there for modest sums.
