We’ve started keeping the ginger in the freezer. Often we’d buy it for a few dishes then we’d watch it slower shrivel up on the counter. The freezer keeps it fresh for months. Whenever you need it, just grate away and throw it back in. No thawing needed and no waste.

100%, also, why back blindly out into the traffic when you can pull out safely? I don’t have a backup camera so backing in ensures when I pull out I can see oncoming cars.

That’s so true. I drive a 90's Camry which now easily the same size or slightly smaller than the modern Corolla. 

I do the same thing, except my puddles are cans or styrofoam cups in the road. I have to flatten them.
