Putting Hamann badges on my 528 with no other Hamann parts on it, and tinting the headlights to hide that they needed a good polish. That actually worked better than expected though since the tint film needed water to be applied it actually made the headlights brighter at night than they were before.

I can relate to the bitch clip for sure. When I was changing the driveshaft among other things on my e39 M5 I decided to do the shifter bushings as well. Getting that clip on and off took way too long and I had sore fingers for a good week after that even though I was wearing gloves.

I can definitely attest to the durability of the m52, I have over 300k on my 528. Also while not as much of an issue the chain guides do need to be replaced. When I had the headgasket done at 275k my indy said the guides fell apart in his hands so they could have failed at any point.

Those were the V8s in the e34, the e39 never had that issue as far as I know.

I’ve had my 1997 528i for over 8 years now, it was a hand me down from my father when I was junior in high school and I’ve put over 60,000 miles on it since (it now has 305k on it). I’m pretty OCD about stuff so most things have been replaced and I even redid the interior myself to make it look new again. Just needs…

I have BMW CCA license plate on both my E39s, could have got it customized but the M stripes on it were enough for me. Also didn’t feel like spending the extra $100 per plate over the base $30 fee.

It’s just a flag for christ’s sake get over it.

If my e39 can make it past 300k on the original engine and trans I don’t see why this wouldn’t. Would make a nice city commuter car.
