The man never fought a Foo in his life!
The man never fought a Foo in his life!
I like when people say things like "no one's going to convince me…" Although it's best when the person adds "so don't even try," inviting the listener to say "fine."
I caught up with Attack of the Clones about six months ago, and I was actually surprised by how much fun it was. All of the action setpieces were too long, as was the movie as a whole, but the pacing is reasonably tight, and the setpieces were nicely done. There's all the nonsense about trade embargoes, but the real…
His pronunciation of "Caucasians" was maybe the highlight of that whole monologue.
One of the best parts of Twin Peaks is having someone say, "God, I hated (insert anything from Twin Peaks," and seeing the immediate response of, "Hey, I loved that thing!"
To be fair, they tried to give Lynch less money, and he threatened to walk (along with most of the cast).
Out of black smoke, a gold bead, and a jade ring with an owl on it. Duh.
As was Cooper with his repeated, awkward thumbs up to Dougie's son.
As the show accumulates more and more plot, I do wonder how he'll handle it, but so far it's amazing - literally amazing - how new and different every episode feels. I was not expecting the fourth episode to dive into wacky comedy any more than I expected the third episode to start with a prolonged, wordless…
As far as the show's crazy tonal balance goes, the scenes with Cooper outside of the Lodge are being played as oddball comedy, but they are really unnerving. In the original series the Black Lodge had its well-defined motifs - people move oddly, talk in backward riddles, and Dale Cooper sits silently on that sofa,…
Also, in keeping with Lynch's… otherworldy sound design abilities, there's a very subtle double-tracking of Cole's voice when his hearing aid is turned up. At first I thought it was distortion from my stereo, but since it came with the other crazy sounds effects (feet on pavement, etc) I'm pretty sure it was…
I sat there for however long that scene was (seriously, like seven, eight minutes?) with such a big, stupid smile on my face that my wife kept asking if there was something she was missing. What can you say? It's Michael Cera in a "Wild One" outfit that doesn't fit, doing a passable-to-mediocre Marlon Brando…
Just to drive it home, the guy giving Cooper directions "home" mentions that Lancelot Court is near Merlin's Autoparts (or somesuch). The Arthur references are deliberate, though it's hard to say if they "mean" anything, or if they're just adding more wrinkles to the show's cosmology. Even in the original series…
Man, so many good lines in that episode…
"Misses Simpson - is it true your husband once at a ten-pound bag of flour when no other food was available?"
"Yes, but…"
"Your witness!"
It can be two elements!
I love shrimp, I don't mind cleaning them, and I've even eaten them with their heads on because I was drunk and removing the heads was too much bother.
They should just call the contest "win 250 pounds of shrimp," cause they say they ain't giving away more, and they surely ain't giving away less.
Definitely read that as "went down on him." Which, hey, who's to say?
Some of the faces are so gleaming and soft that it seems like the design team applied an "airbrush" filter to make it look more cartoony, but only on the top half of the image.
The one they used for the word "Homecoming" is a real doozy. That scribbly font (complete with a Spider-Man emoji) only works in a more spartan design. With imagery this busy, you need a single block font.
