He’s not even Greek!

No one remembers Open Season (1974)? Peter Fonda and his Vietnam vet buddies don’t like the idea of giving up killing after coming home from the war, so they abduct campers, give them a head start, and... yes, hunt them.

Can I vote for Fincher’s “Zodiac?"

That monologue from Gary Busey at dinner makes the whole thing worth it. BANG.

The Pest

Die in a fire.............

I hadn’t read his works yet, but ‘Killing them Softly’ put Higgins on my radar and his writing just blew me away.  When I first seen it I was so overwhelmed I wasn’t sure what I was seeing, nobody makes movies like that of just nearly pointless dialogue.  Loved it.

Antlers is actually based on a short story called The Quiet Boy. I don’t want to really spoil anything, but the wendigo as depicted in that story is much closer to the more supernatural origins of the beast in folklore.

Just saw a picture of it you weren’t kidding. They could have made that a bit more elegantly to at least try and match the existing architecture. Yuck.

I can see her rolling her eyes as she typed that sentence.

I mean, obviously the concept of Shallow Hal is the problem. But working within that, they HAD to have a skinny actress play the part. It wouldn’t make any sense otherwise.

The Bills-Texans game featured a kick returner casually fumbling a football in the end zone as he tried to toss a live ball to a referee.  And Josh Allen had 3 plays in a 5-minute span stupider than that play.

And young kids today can barely cope with it. Their attention spans can’t deal with the longeurs of the film’s opening reel.

“Deep” cut.

Slaughterhouses One Through Three

I found The Way Way Back charming but not nearly as charming as Adventureland.  But yeah, it was kinda wretched.  Also, if this movie doesn’t include a slapstick comic drunk driving scene it can GTFOH.

I've always thought Flanegan was an incredibly talented director but that he has very questionable taste levels. He also tends to work with the exact same people every movie, so I don't think he really has anyone that challenges him on his hokier instincts.

I agree - Pullman uses restraint and mystery all over the place to construct a world that feels like it always has fathoms to reveal. Another example is the way the bears’ society is teased in mentions in the first third of the book.

It’s disappointing to hear that it sounds like the show makers have missed how

For me it’s always going to be his answer to Sheriff Bart asking if he needs help: “Oh...just all I can get.”

I’m curious to see how they handle the reading of the alethiometer, as they botched it so poorly in the movie.
