Lol, it sounds like he’s playing “25 or 6 to 4.”
If nothing else the conceit suggests an interesting twist on the inevitable In Space entry in the franchise -- instead of escaping out, the victims have to escape in to safety from the infinite emptiness of the universe.
The D’Angelo A is extremely exciting, the comparison to Drive less so. But Cage is a lot more interesting than Gosling at least.
“the middle manager at a corporate crime syndicate called The Firm”
Yeah, the review is making some very worrisome points about them not being used right but still -- that cast! And Headey! Fuck, I’m going to watch this and be disappointed, aren’t I.
(“I’ve dealt with some higher-level astral bullshit that would make you drop a log in your satin panties,” goes one unfortunate effort.)
Ahahahahahahaha, well done.
Ha, I was amused to see that too. No defense possible here! But this was a really good write-up of how it goes bad and where it could’ve gone better, very fair.
Aside from the odd angles and setups at times, it looked fine I believe? I don’t recall much one way or the other. But I liked it, though it is hilariously perverse in how it goes to great lengths to be about basketball players and never show them actually playing basketball.
That’s what I mean, though! It’s more interesting to me that Peters wanted to do something (that was insanely stupid) because he thought it was cool, as opposed to doing something so nerds won’t get mad.
PUPPET SHOW
I liked High Flying Bird but there were some weird camera choices in that too, people really far apart in the frame for no reason I could make out. Interesting how this one also seems to involve convoluted plans around Black people reclaiming value taken from them.
“OK, we need some damn Soviet Avengers. Who we got?”
I have no one to blame for this but myself.
“seemingly running down a checklist of Kevin Feige demands: A giant floating fortress!”
“But still, the film chooses a side, rather than just letting the events play out and refraining from reminding you know this is bad behavior.”
“both The Wages Of Fear and Sorcerer devote plenty of time to what are essentially complex engineering problems, whereas the equally daunting instances here (one truck is submerged and the other two are on their sides within the first 40 minutes!) zip by in montage form.”
I’m sure, I was just goofing on his superb himbo skills/image. I remember the whiplash of watching the Veronica Mars episode about African child soldiers and then Hansen coming on at the end in full serious message mode, he was behind the whole episode because his brother ran a nonprofit helping those kids.
The images for this were driving me nuts because the dorky dude looked vaguely familiar but I couldn’t place him, and now I am horrified to discover that Ryan Hansen is the nerd, this is not a comedy.
