I’m pretty convinced, at some point Nintendo will remake “A Link to the Past” in the style of “Link’s Awakening” in 2019.

Also, 2020 was double as long as normal years. So it could be almost finished. ;)
Yesterday, I had an itch to continue “Hollow Knight” and I really was in a zone. I’m still not completely sold and I don’t know what’s been different but that was way more fun than ever before.
Haven’t played “Athem”, but I’m all in for super-suits that make you being able to fly. But you can easily make a new game out of that premise.
As is the act of looking at a painting. The act of playing the game is just the way you receive that particular form of art. The art itself is what happens/is intended to happen while you play.
Somewhere in there is still a place for "future", "focus" and "customers".
As to so many questions, the answer is the “Donkey Kong Country/Land”-games (yeah, even the Gameboy-titles). The older ones are just wholesome journeys to my childhood, who happen to still be just as fun and playable as they were upon release. “Returns” and “Tropical Freeze” are modern platformer masterpieces you…
“Cyber Shadow”. Had to buy it as soon as possible, because this is exactly my shit. And two to three hours in, I regret nothing.
This is one well crafted action-game. It certainly get’s the presentation right, but I especially like how organic it all feels. The game constantly introduces new mechanics, enemy types and…
I second this. He may be a little bit too old to play Bond in a movie, but you can still performance capture him and make him look younger in the game.
All those impressions articles are nice and good. But one day before the game releases again means Kotaku probably won’t review it.
I only recently learned about Natsumes (past?) status as a pretty good, somewhat underappreciated developer, especially of the 8- and 16bit-era. Thanks in part to also very good and underappreciated youtuber SNES Drunk, who reviewed a good chunk of their most popular titles.
So, I played some of these games, like…
Short comment (that is probably more rude, than I want it to be) by someone who doesn’t like spoilers, but is not super paranoid about them:
All this “I want to be able to talk about something freely, without having to be cautious with spoilers.”-victim rethoric is just arrogant, self-righteous whining by media…
And all the Nazi-punching is worth nothing? I think that would pretty up-to-date these days.
Great suggestion! I always think more of a third-person-action-title in the vein of “Bayonetta” or “DMC” or “Arkham”, when it comes to a “John Wick” game, not a shooter. Speaking of it, “John Wick” is the perfect template for an action-game. You could set it in his earlier years, when he still went on missions for…
Yes, or “Alien Isolation”. “Mad Max” wasn’t bad either, as were the “Mordor” games. And the upcoming “Harry Potter” game also does look promising.
Yeah, I thought about that point after my initial excitement (and my post). I wouldn’t want a first-person-”Indy”-game. But Eidos (Montreal?) made “Shadow of the Tomb Raider” after two “Deus Ex” games. Rocksteady made “Arkham Asylum” after “Urban Chaos”. And “CD Project Red” made “Cyberpunk” after “The Witcher”. So, I…
This is absolutely perfect news. It always bothered me that they didn’t just make a new “Indiana Jones” game, instead of a new movie. The technology is now advanced enough to just performance capture Harrison Ford, so you can place the story around the WWII era, without having an Indy that seems far too old, but still…
That sounds actually pretty cool. Thanks!
Have to correct myself: I wrote "especially the Rare games", but I actually wanted to give that credit to Retro, because I really enjoy the heavy, momentum based physics of the platforming in the "Returns" games. While I love the original trilogy, the movement there is a little "nervous" in comparison.
My immediate thought was the... How can I call it?... “Coyote time-roll-jump” from the “Donkey Kong Country” series, especially the Rare games. You have to roll off of a platform and jump just a millisecond after you left it for a significant increase in momentum, speed and distance. It’s a pretty unique mechanic,…
