Not to mention they're dealing with a New Dominion Weapon. Why wouldn't they bring along their CHIEF SCIENCE OFFICER to try to figure out how to shut that shit down in case plan A (blow them all up) didn't work?

You nailed perfectly all of my complaints about both episodes. The complete randomness of her death (I really do feel it would have been better if she'd died in "Change of Heart" because then there would have been some MEANING to that and, arguably, given Worf not only more pathos, but believable pathos at that).

When you get into these sorts of things though you probably have to have a pretty clear distinction between an actual life and a potential existence.

Time's Orphan could have worked if everything hadn't been so ham-handed. The process of events is just dizzying to the point of being ridiculous: From Molly falling through the time portal that was just waiting for one last person to swallow up before blinking off, to "well, we can't negate this Molly's existence

…I'm pretty sure that we can assume freedom of the press in the utopian federation, even in darker DS9.

But the explanation was that they were "caught behind the lines" when the war broke out. That's different.

Red Squad was a little too precious for me.

Next to Profit and Lace, Time's Orphan may look like a good episode.

The 24th century: Where all medication is delivered by hypo-spray, but we still like our speed in pill form. Because how else would you know it was drugs?

The Sound of Her Voice was decent, but it does not out-awesome the suck that is Time's Orphan.

I have to admit—January is going to be a hard month.

But like last week's episode, this week's episode was so prescient—that optolithic data rod might as well have been yellowcake. And the continuing question of "how many bad things can the Good Guys do before they are no

Ultimately, what makes this episode so amazing is that they don't take the simple out. You think they will, when Vreenak shows up and immediately starts acting like a dick, but then, when the two of them sitting and enjoying a drink, there is that moment where you realize he's not an absolute jerk—he's making some

(hints at spoilers ahoy)

Yeah, I worried we over-hyped it too.

Because I can live with it.

But this is the federation. So it comes with your choice of sprinkles.

Right—the "computer confirm time" thing at the beginning and then Sloane saying "well we gave you a full hour" at the end answers that :)

I did a thorough re-watch of DS9 as the DVDs were coming out. I had seen the last few seasons as their aired, but I couldn't find the episodes in syndication until the DVDs were released and I dutifully bought them up as each season was released.

All I could ever think while watching Wonderfalls was "Don't trust your dad, Jay! He's with Section 31!"
