What he should have said, and what I am saying, is this is how institutional racism exists and is hard to erase. Institutional racism isn’t necessarily malicious, but tends to keep going for reasons stated in the article.

This is a criticism, fair or not, that can be applied to a lot of TV and movies. Give Cheers a watch again. It is loaded with overt sexism to the point it is nearly unpalatable to a modern day audience. Seinfeld too has aspects of the show that haven’t aged well.
