It’s ironic to be incorrect about the meanings of “accent” and “dialect” and then allude to a “person who knows what they’re talking about about.”

Personally, I think the moral outcry against violent games 20-30 years ago convinced everyone that outrageous violence was an essential part of gaming. To be fair, I don’t mind how violent games are - they’re silly, even if they’re supposed to be Serious. But it really irritates me when people pretend that shooting

“Insanely violent" is a good description. There's no way enough people ever landed on that island to produce all those random body parts.

Ignoring continuity also means acknowledging that prior installments were unpopular or crappy, which invites the question of why this installment will be better. There are definitely people who enjoy continuity for its own sake, but there’s also something amusingly cynical about saying, “Remember those movies people

I did too. I saw Prometheus and Covenant on airplanes over the past few years, and they were perfectly solid. Ironically, they play more like 60s/70s horror movies than Alien does - shuttling the characters between violent/creepy setpieces, while the characters act exactly as smart or stupid as needed at any moment.

People who obsess over masking in 2024 are like people who blame sexual assault on a woman’s clothes.

Watch out, being condescending on the Internet causes lupus.

I bought a boxed set of X-Men movies, and it includes the New Mutants. I'm kind of delighted - it's the kind of thing I would never have sought out, but now it's there on the shelf, daring me to watch it.

Ha, my son and I weren’t the only ones in the theater for Dial of Destiny, but we had three rows to ourselves. It was perfect because he could ask me to explain the plot without disturbing anyone else’s experience.

All of my bad theater going experiences were 15 or 20 years ago when I’d see movies at a suburban multiplex. Those places can be pure shit. But I literally don't remember the last time I was in a theater with a glaring phone, noisy talker, or screaming child.

I also take issue with the article saying he received an un-simulated blowjob on camera, unless his real dick looks like Marky Mark’s prosthesis at the end of Boogie Nights.

Wait, is he actually one of the Gallo Wine heirs? Do he and Balthazard Getty ever hang out and reminisce about the 90s?

It's almost as if Disney spent years pushing Disney+ as the definitive place for their movies, and now they're trying to make theaters also the definitive place for their movies. It's called take-backsies, and it rarely works.

We’re a long way from the avclub’s Permanent Records feature or Genevieve Koski's thoughtful reviews of Britney Spears albums.

Also, Guardians of the Galaxy introduced a new group of characters. That’s different from taking minor characters from other movies and saying “they’re a super-team now.” Last time Marvel tried to introduce a new supergroup it was The Eternals.

I’m really curious how Barbie is going to do - it was a monster hit, and recent Best Picture winners have been a weird bunch. A big historical movie hasn’t won in a decade - although I guess it’s been even longer since a comedy did.

Michael Richards as Mike Richards or GTFO.

Don’t worry, nobody is going to be friends with you. You’re safe.

Rage Against the Machine had a great rhythm section, a really creative guitarist, and killer vocals, making them a really tremendous stadium band. But as political activists, they were basically the guys at a skate park who don’t smile or shut up.

Harry Potter controversies are amazing to read about, since everything hinges on adults being unable to move past a series of okay-ish children’s novels. Rowling’s a piece of shit, but it’s also crazy that in 2023 she’s still raking in money. She didn’t write her generation’s Lord of the Rings, she wrote the 2000s
