You’re not alone.
...which is entirely in line with the idea of “honor” as having any sort of bearing on the justice system. And really, police are the big problem here. They could very easily tell the press that if they want any access, they have to help victims equally.
It’s not necessarily just to protect their honor - the police and community put more effort into solving crimes committed against kids who are seen as nice/good/innocent.
I don’t think that’s restricted to sexual predators. People are just darker and weirder than anyone wants to think. That’s true of victims, too; without engaging in any sort of victim-blaming, how often are investigations thwarted because it’s hard to admit basic material facts about the victim that nobody wants to…
Another Virginia Tech student was also arrested.
It's wonderful that you're praying for the little girl. Just wondering ...if your 'God' is real, rather than an imaginary fairy-tale being, where was He when she was killed? Wouldn't a real 'God' have intervened to save her life, or what better things might He have had to do (like paying the universe's electric bill)?…
This better?
Two things from the linked article; 1.) Her dresser was pushed up to the window which could mean she snuck out to meet him (not exactly abduction) and 2.) She has a liver condition that requires medication or she could die.
This is the (il)logical conclusion of right-wing political ideologies which dictate that the government should be pared down to essentially nothing, and everything should be provided by private industry. Because trickle down, or whatever. So now private industry is providing water to these folks, which means that the…
Yeah, it was interesting to see how many of those Oregon militia folks who want to tear down the government simultaneously depend 100% on the government for survival. I didn’t even follow the story that closely, and I know among some of the most prominent “leaders” in that group was a guy whose entire income comes…
Don’t forget the federal government. The EPA knew about it, but buried it. The political appointtee in charge of the EPA there resigned. Gawker did report that, but never the why. Basically, the EPA water quality expert notified the head of the EPA for the region, and she buried it.
Good luck finding teachers in Michigan at all. They’ve cut their pay so hard over the last 7 years there are teachers now making less than half of what they were. Teachers with 25 years experience that are leaving to other states where they will make more starting over at the new teacher rate than stay in Michigan.
Let me get this straight. The governor and his appointees who allowed and then ignored the poisoning of municipal water are now charged with dispersing millions of federal/taxpayer bailout dollars rather than being charged with jail time?
The joke wouldn’t really work if you reversed the genders — no one talks about men being “strong and empowered” because it’s considered the default — but even so, the only outrage would come from the seriously humor impaired (just like all the outrage about this post!). It takes a special brand of cluelessness to read…
It should be brought over just like the Lena Dunham’s photoshop article, the Dodai Stewart ode to male exploitation, Gawker’s Conde Nast extortion, Gawker’s Hulk Hogan sextape article, etc etc.
School nurses are popular in porn scenarios, so I figured every school had them.
Fantastic points on both accounts. I could not agree more. There was also that piece mocking Chris Brown for being a rape victim.
Honestly, I found that article extremely disturbing. I would call every single incident described in that article an assault. The tone definitely mocks the victims of those assaults and heavily downplays the significance and inappropriateness of intimate partner violence perpetuated by women. It really does not matter…
If the mayor or governor had merely retweeted an off-color joke, their careers would be over in nanoseconds. Yet here they remain in office.
