Will the basic duramax architecture ever change in the forseeable future? Its soildered on since 01' and even with the refreshes its a little behind Ford and Dodge offerings. Not that any of this power or towing capacity really gets used by the end consumer, but it does bring people into the showroom.

I would say its probably a manual, but that couldn’t possibly be the case. The ranger spec M5OD transmission would spill its guts in the highway if you sneezed on the shifter and it happened to glide through all the slop over to reverse.
