Funny how nobody's mentioned Zero Dark Thirty, starring a woman in a very important role (that of a covert operative tasked with finding Bin Laden) which was also directed by a woman—-Kathryn Bigelow—-who's just flat-out one of the bast damn directors to come up in the last 25 years, as far as I'm concerned. Just

Only some of them suck—-not all of them. His best ones are I Can Do Bad By Myself,Meet The Browns, and Good Deeds. So unless you'e seen all of them, you can't say that all of them suck. Plus he's employing talented black actresses, which a hell of a lot more than Hollywood ever does when it comes to black actresses.

That's happening in the Detroit area too——suburban white kids are re-discovering the Detroit their parents and grandparents left after the '67 riots, and are moving back to the D—-however, they're also gentrifying the places they move in, which, of course means the longtime residents may have to move. It's not

That dosen't make any sense—-if a women makes more than you. she can always buy you more gifts ( heard that from an ex of mine—he was joking about that,though.).

That's all exactly right—-especially that last paragraph.

That's the truth. I see folks over 40 every day that look great, and not just for their age. And being young does not automatically make you "hot" or pretty, for that matter—I've seen plenty of unattractive young folks, believe me. A person's so-called "hotness" dosen't have a sell-by date or anything like that. And

Oh,please—even the ugliest, nastiest white guy wil get laid just because he's a white guy, and also if he has a little money.

Damn—-where the hell do you live where people get away with that shit? Just asking.

That's so true—funny how that's rarely pointed out about that particular term—as if a white person couldn't possibly be trash simply because they're white, and if they are, that their very existence is an affront to rich/white middle class people (especially if they chose to relate and be around non-white folks all

If you ever catch any documentaries on him, Du Bois was just one interesting dude—and he was also an activist who got blacklisted and pretty much run out of the country in his final years for agitating against segregation and the system in general. Nice to see him get some props in an unlikely place, though!

Wrong—-the director of Gravity, Alfonso Cuaron, said on an interview on Charlie Rose, said he did have to really convince the suits to cast a woman in the role, because they originally wanted a man to star in it. So,yeah, gender did matter in the case. I enjoyed the hell out of Gravity—-plus it was scary as hell in

As a female filmgoer (and film buff) who loves films, hell, yeah, I always love seeing women be the strong, interesting character in films, simply because men dominate damn near every aspect of a film—-it's always their stories that are deemed more important, even if the guy is just a lousy piece of shit and not really

Yeah, I liked Third Watch too. but, ironically, as soon as I started getting into it, it just so happened that it was on the cancellation block, so I got to see the last season, at least. That's happened to just about every other show I've liked, though.

Anderson's mainly famous for the classic off-the-wall '80's sitcom NIGHT COURT (which also a had a great theme song, too.) He was basically the straight man in a middle of a bunch of entirely crazy people, but he was one of the reasons the show worked so well (the other being the whole crazy ensemble cast, too.) That's

Gross!

Hell,naw—-been watching it for years now—-it reruns on Sunday nights if you miss it on Saturdays—-and yes, it is a great/wonderful showcase for indie artists.

What? That's a good depressing as hell song, but Joy Division made even better songs—-check their stuff.

Also check out "Year Of The Sex Olympics"-it's from a late 1960's British series called Theatre 625 (1968,to be specific) which shows what it would be like if people if reality TV shows were the norm, and what happens to two people chosen to be on an island for big ratings. Interesting to see what they thought it

Man, I was racking my brain trying to remember the name of that Brit show! I'm gonna look it up-thanks!

Chimmmm Chimm's Baaaad—Assssss Revenge! Stopping up your gas tank—-or whatever the hell that song said! I love that one! However, Alcoholic and Beergut are the real jams off that one,straight-up!
