Not surprising! It’s one of the best words for building two ways on a double or triple letter (or word) space. In that screen shot I had drawn the Q late and I was dumping it so the 10 points didn’t count against me (and for my opponent). Normally, though, those 10 points multipled several times make the Q a huge

Fun fact: Bort is both a real name and a playable word in Scrabble, as it’s a term that refers to shards of unrefined diamonds that are not of gem grade quality.

She feels like a real person who got shoved in to this otherwise scripted comedy

Set up the Loose Vagina as the cliffhanger ending of season 1. Make season 2 a slow burn building up to the revelation about Sonny’s Massive Schlong. Season 3 pretty much writes itself.

As AVC’s own Mike Vago explained in a recent Wiki Wormhole entry, there is such a thing as steamed cheeseburgers and they’ve been around (localized in central Connecticut, rather than Principal Skinner’s kitchen) for almost a century:

I named one of my cats Fellini. I was teaching film studies classes in grad school at the time (and I really dug 8 1/2, which I taught that semester), and I thought it was a clever play on “feline.”

Yep. It’s from the July 1986 issue (page 80), in an essay by Gregor Von Rezzori, who had earlier translated the novel into German. He and Wim Wenders collaborated on the the piece, a photographic essay (Wenders was the photographer) entitled “In Pursuit of Lolita”, which tracks down all of the locations that Humbert

I hope somebody is able to salvage Adult Swim’s Flash-based games. I’d like to play Viva Caligula and Candy Mountain Massacre Revenge again.

One of my favorite bits is when Conan goes around behind the scenes interacting with the staff. Sona, Andy, Jordan Schlansky, and the rest of regulars and semi-regulars that work for him and occasionally pop up in front of the camera... gotta keep 'em all.

That is impressive. You might even say that she’s turned her work ethic up to Eleven.

That was pretty much exactly what came to mind when I first saw it. The very fact that Baldwin’s impression got under Trump’s skin so thoroughly in the first place was itself a good enough reason to put up with it all this time, in my opinion, and if this is a final “fuck you” to the fascist, all the better

I was following SystemMastery’s in describing the character as person of color. I do not watch the show and do not give a shit.

Do you really think there is no other possible interpretation of Linda who could ever work? Sheesh, how short-sighted.

I didn’t call you a reactionary. I said that claiming that absolute positions must be maintained in the face of compelling exceptions gives reactionaries ammunition.

You can have a great explanation and a damn good reason, but they still did the thing. The fundamental nature of doing the thing doesn’t care about a good reason.

Are you and SystemMastery the same person? Or did you both just finish the same freshman philosophy class? Yes, “thing that we love might be even better if it were a completely different thing.” “Linda might still be a great character if she were not based on the real life person that she is based on and instead was a

You keep adding things to the conversation that I neither said nor intended. At no point did I say that people want to recast those roles, or that there shouldn’t be a larger conversation about diversity in voice casting, or that there are not examples of roles that went to voice actors in a problematic way.

You’re right, I do care about this one, hence my providing the relevant. compelling details. Ignoring those details or trying to wave them away by lumping them in with some bullshit generalization (“there’s always a relevant compelling detail”) might work for you, it doesn’t work for me.

What’s a small thing? Neither really fits the larger white-actors-cast-to-play-people-of-color or men-cast-to-play-women templates. Roberts was cast to play his own mother, essentially, and Mintz was cast to play a male role that later became a female role. The specific details matter.
