That Romanian priest also apparently did some Picture of Dorian Gray hoodoo on them cuz in that header photo it looks like neither of them has aged a day aside from a little salt in Keanu’s pepper.

Yeah, in the middle of reading through Riley’s essay I was reminded of how Amiri Baraka, another bona fide radical, often took Lee to task during the latter’s 1990s heyday. I wonder if Lee will eventually respond.

AVC writers seem dead set on passing on summaries of half-remembered news stories that they only partially understood in the first place.

One of my cats insists on drinking straight from the faucet. I have to turn the knob so that the stream of water is very, very thin and she just laps it up midair.

St. Louis had a local celebrity foster cat last year. He was dubbed “Rally Cat” because he had run onto the field during a Cardinals game (against cross-state, inter-league rivals the Kansas City Royals) one pitch into a Yadier Molina at-bat with the Cards one run down with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom

The no-kill shelter in my city (Columbia, MO) has a network of host families (all volunteers) that foster their animals on a rotating basis, so at any given time the number of animals to be adopted at the actual shelter’s site is manageable. I think that is usually a big part of any no-kill operation. Both of my cats

I think you put the headline in the body text, Will.

MFN Dixon’s original comment was that “Disney might be putting the kibosh on any of FOX’s R-rated Marvel properties going forward”—the operative phrase being “might be.” There’s been plenty of speculation along those lines is the point. Here’s another article from Variety about the very same topic:

That would probably be the best Gunn’s supporters could have hoped for to begin with; it always seemed unlikely that the Disney and Marvel Studio suits would lose face and set a precedent by reversing their decision, but doing it that way they could wink and nod to the talent on set while seeming to stick to their

There has been mild hand-wringing in some quarters that the Mouse will tone down Deadpool and the X-Men since news of the Disney-Fox merger was first discussed. Here’s a WaPo article focused on the possibility from a few weeks ago:

Now I’m picturing the Kirk-Gorn fight playing out, only right as they slowly walk towards each other to begin awkwardly swinging at one another, First Lieutenant Bruce Lee beams down from the Enterprise behind Kirk, runs past him and lands a flying bicycle kick dead center in the Gorn’s stupid face, then proceeds to

Hey! *I* follow commiegirl1. That’s Rebecca Shoenkopf, owner and proprietor of Wonkette. Hopefully that dude stopped pestering her after getting called out by the goose.

If Spike Lee tweets the wrong address for the theater, then it's a Spike Lee Joint.

For those adverse to watching embedded videos to get actual content, here’s the key quote:

*Sees a picture of Rick McCallum*

It would involve some retconning and tortured exposition, sure, but I think it could be done, if they want to keep the name but go with an actor of a different ethnicity. I’m not really emotionally invested in the series, though, so I'll defer to your estimation of how effective or ineffective it would be.

While I’m usually not one to go all in on fan theories, one that I find pretty compelling is that James Bond is just an alias that goes along with the Agent 007 designation, and that it’s been used by several men at this point. If nothing else such an explanation could be used to diversify the role going forward.
