Yes, I do.

It would be nice if there were plenty of trans actresses who could do justice to the role of Maura, but unless you can actually name some of them, I’m afraid that amounts to wishful thinking.

I just looked it up via Wikipedia’s international list of notable trans women, which seems comprehensive and includes over 40 actresses. Of those, I couldn’t find one who could plausibly play Maura Pfefferman; they’re literally all either far too young, not American or no longer alive.

I know Alexandra Billings (who plays Davina on the show) via my wife, who acted with her in several plays in Chicago during the 1990s. I can’t think of any trans actresses who would be right for Maura Pfefferman, which is why I asked. Do you know of any?

No, it’s an honest question.

Are there any trans actresses who could have played Maura Pfefferman? Right age, acting experience and skill to pull off the part, etc.?

The only book that really focuses on the arson and bombing campaign is Simon Webb’s The Suffragette Bombers: Britains’ Forgotten Terrorists. For a good general history of the WSPU including some of their more overtly militant actions, I recommend Diane Atkinson’s new book, Rise Up, Women! The Remarkable Lives of the

I worked as a stuntman for a bit, pretty quickly transitioned to specialize in fight coordination and these days I’m a writer and producer. There are exceptions, but the most common career path is “utility stunts” (basically, all-purpose fall-guy or -gal) to stunt co-ordinator to second-unit director.

I’ve been deeply interested in the radical suffragette movement for a long time and have read many books on the subject, etc. IMO the idea of posthumously pardoning the imprisoned radicals is basically a symbolic way of saying, as a society, “the suffragettes were right” - at least regarding the votes for women cause.

It’s easy to casually assume that there “must be” plenty of people within a given demographic available to do this sort of work, but that’s just not realistic. I’m currently casting a documentary that will use actors to represent historical characters in several scenes and one of these characters happens to be a young

I did that once. I didn’t slam the bully up against the wall, but I stood over him and intimidated him and told him that if my son came home from school - even one more time - upset because of something the bully had done, we were going to have a big meeting. And that he and his parents would be there, and my son and

Married to an actor, most of our friends are actors, spent my whole career working with actors (but am not, myself, an actor) - it honestly comes down to individual personality/temperament and the demands of a given role.

I was watching a Ouija seance on Youtube recently that hit almost every archetypal ideomotor-effect-plus-suggestibility beat. Two teenage girls set up the board in a cande-lit room and both appeared to be taking it very seriously.

They ask “is anyone there?” and of course the planchette slides to “yes”.

They ask

Exactly right. Context is everything ...

That’s probably less common today than it used to be, but parties thrown by very wealthy folk have traditionally featured bowls of high-end cigarettes for guests who smoke.

The CoS version of Satanism is actually the perfect “religion” for irony-obsessed hipsters.

Yes, but in a surprise twist, it’s turtle meat. What do you do ... what do you do?

(...) the fun of the InfoWars brand—or at least, the enticing danger and excitement of it—lies in the pleasure of simultaneously suspending disbelief and exploring the seams where fact and fiction meet.
