As far as I'm aware this car was approved under the Single Vehicle Approval scheme in either 2008 or 2009. I believe that Cars International Kensington bought it at auction by Brooks at Goodwood where this photo comes from.
The headrest is mounted to the hinged portion of the canopy, or the surround structure. I haven't seen any literature or photos suggesting a single seat option. From what I can tell, the author of the wiki page is making a supposition based on the form of the car. None of the linked sources mention a single seat.
It started life as a GTR race car with one seat and was then converted for road use. I don't know if McLaren added the extra two seats when they worked on it or not.
Nice price, but I'm Hungry for the Wolf (sburg) Edition.
But Vatanen hit the wall and Robby didn't. Robby continued to race at Pike's Peak and in 1994 set the open wheel record at 10:05.850 which, I believe, stands to this day. Comparing drivers by what is a single lap is pointless. Maybe one driver truly is better than the other, but using only this as a evidence is faulty…
Don't Forget Robby Unser. Much of the footage in Climb Dance is from his run in 1989. He was a little over a second slower than Vatanen, but it was still a magnificent performance.
If I ever find two replicas, I'll send one to you. With only four race cars and one road car built, I'll never see an original. The one pictured above is a replica either made for The New Avengers or based on the car in that series.
Yes
I've always preferred the M100. It just sounds to me more like it has more of a soul than any MB engine since.
