I got his Green Universe book just two days ago! His compositions are amazing. He will go down as a legend.

I love his overall style: his compositions are aggressively inorganic, with an almost mechanical sort of symmetry... but then you look closer and everything has this Rembrandt-like brush-stroke dirtiness that makes it all feel more real.

Zahn, Stackpole, and a few others put out some great EU books. But for the most part the old EU was standard schlock that sold because of the Star Wars name, and some books like The Crystal Star were absolutely wretched.

I’m a pretty big Star Wars fan. I consumed the Dark Horse comics, many of the novels, and so on.

How is it a blow? When Lucasfilm decided that those books were no longer canon, it’s not as if they dispatched people to go out and remove those books from circulation or existence. They’re still out there, you can still read and enjoy them, so what’s the problem? All the worldbuilding, all of the stories are still
