With an electronic lock, if it doesn’t latch correctly or completely you can put in a little electric warning to say “hey stupid your latch isn’t completely finished locking”. +1. Former Smart Fortwo owner here (10 months). The transmission was always fine. Shifts were firm and deliberate but never obtrusive. I’d much rather have the automated gearbox from the Smart than the conventional automatic (slushy, indecisive, etc) in my Honda.
