There was I believe a plan to do a whole range of narrow V engines, from a V4 up, but somebody came to their senses and cut back. The W8 and V5 didn’t stay on sale long.

What? No other car maker in any country in the world is looking at what others are doing and designing something similar if they think it’ll sell?

Bit too close to Ebola, no?

Those are panel gaps I'm afraid. Mass production of metal pressings was different then.

I’m guessing that the knobs are fan and heat and the thumbwheels are distribution, but it’s not that obvious without actually sitting in a 104 and trying them.

That’s been done by Renault and didn't go that well as secondhand buyers don't take kindly to have to keep paying for the battery and so resale values are poor. Renault were supposed to replace the battery once its capacity fell below a certain point but in real life they did everything to avoid this and in some cases

The Up slots in well below the Golf - it’s two sizes down from it, with the Polo filling the gap.

That’s not what it said before it was edited......

The article after this says that 70% of the Autobahn is unrestricted. Which is it?

MAN for one, but they’re really, really big.

The number of cylinders shall be eight, but there may be two banks of them.

Yes, but you know perfectly well what they mean. Nobody seriously thinks that batteries just magic up electricity.

Not just Germany. My cousin wanted to install a wind turbine and it was a long and difficult process, mainly because a neighbour has a deep rooted objection to them and organised a campaign against it (despite not protesting against the original planning application).

You sound surprised? I'm in Ireland, not the UK but it's a driving licence here too.

Kind of. They sold out to Renault in 2000 but still have a shareholding in the business.

Driving licence.

You’ll need to thank the late GB Shaw for that one.

Apart from the Americans, do any English speakers call Z "zee"?

Interestingly, in the UK (and not just there) a semi is a house.

Not commonly, no.
