A late boomer here (still born in the Eisenhower administration) and I thought people had blacked out wheels because they couldn’t be bothered to clean the black brake dust off them. I have aluminum wheels on my hybrid (boomers invented those, the greatest generation invented muscle cars.)

The Lexus GS also had the clear tail lights back then, IIRC.

Hybrid systems supplement torque at low RPM, and save that wear and tear on the motor, as well as wear and tear on the brakes. They only have one moving part and are easily rebuilt.

Those 4.9L I6 motors are great. They are thirsty, though.

My first fast ride was in a 65 GTO with the 389 tri-power - in 1967. Same dealy. As they used to say, horsepower sells cars, torque wins races. I really enjoy an overbuilt heavy duty engine.

I think your “first” (there is no such word as firstly), “second,” and “third” observations were on point, because work truck gospel. This is not a toy truck for the white collars, this is a real workhorse.

Mmmmmm, Chipotle...

Some people are quick to be the grammar police, but I just want to thank you for the proper use and spelling of ‘champing at the bit.’ So glad to not see chomping.

Pretty is one thing, but safe is another. These used seat of the pants aerodynamics, not good science. Science is what made them “ugly,” but much safer and better.

Ah, but the backs ends rust off and drop the rear axle assembly. So, wait on your verdict?

But, people will have to hold on to their cars for much longer, so... a long valley before people get to the next fleet replacement cycle. Who could have foreseen that?

Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.’

More likely Bizarro Toyota would introduce a mid-engined Solara, the 2-door version of the Camry.

Just move the bus to a plinth in the local town, and call it quits.

Time doesn’t have a directional arrow, but causality does.

Overhead cam design was developed around 1902, so...

Um, the “ticket holders” are taking their seats late? Haha

Does this mean y’all are gonna stop buying minivans? Sorry, “SUVs?”

Chip Foose did two tone to death. BTW, that color scheme on your press loaner looks like a hospital hallway, circa 1948.

It was pretty competitive in 53. Read 1001 Corvette facts for a comparison with the cars of the time. It was faster than most.
