I’ve done the same as well. I had matching paint mixed and I even 3D printed the correct rims so car would be right.  It's just part of being a jalop.

If he’s faking it to screw with other drivers, I don’t see a cop pulling him over and buying that as an excuse. It would be an expensive and time wasting prank. Then again, plenty of people don’t think their actions through.

Wouldn’t hurt to ask. I’ve personally have had them let me upgrade to nicer wheels on another car from the lot before a purchase. It’s just part of the haggling. Although, the wheels were the same size.

If you have to draw a line, then he deserves none of the technical credit. Meeting Engineers are management. I’m guessing he doesn’t run any CAD software, draft, spend weeks on any analysis or even run through a problem using Excel. Anyone who reads Dilbert knows what management does (or doesn’t do) :)

No, once you take the first step away from doing the calculations and design work, you become a “meeting Engineer”. You wrangle emails, talk on the phone, and go to meetings to coordinate your efforts with other systems groups.
