Why do they care?  Most of us could never afford to drive one.

Who is going to fix this and how then?

We can vote both sides of the aisle out. Maybe they’ll get the picture? It will be too late by then.

The only solution is to vote in a government which believes in working towards tackling this and making us all participate.

I really would like one of those, but not a turbo 4 cyl Buick version. I want the silver wagon in the top pic.

When the up-keep of a vehicle is as bad as making car payments, it’s time to move on.

“It’s old. It weighs as much as a house. It’s not relevant anymore. It’s expensive, for a Nissan. No manual, no care. It’s a computer car, a video game car that requires no skill to drive. .....This is how the R35 Nissan GT-R gets written off, now a decade into its existence.”

Was looking for this comment... Thank you.

Wouldn’t the most common finding be that most people were listening to their own music through a phone? I don’t listen to the radio almost at all anymore.

Sell me one without the engine, I’ll take care of the rest.

I’m reading Ingenious, by Jason Fagone right now....

For $80,000 you can pretty much get whatever you want. A Porsche Panamera, CTS-v Wagon or a Pontiac G8 with loads of money left over for parts. You could sink a lot into converting that G8 into a wagon (idea from NP or CP from yesterday).

And the projectile comes in from center right... and kaboom!

Sweet Buick!

Project cars you’ve given up on? Most of these stories will end up having some part to due with “got married and had kids” being a factor....

Is there a study that includes that as well? I’d just like to know all the facts. Mining vs. drilling, shipping vs. electrical infrastructure, assembly and disposal of both cars.

I haven’t look recently, but many are written with a slant one way or another. Leaving out some portion or only looking on one element of

One estimate I read said it would take 82% of the world’s supply (that we can currently mine) to make 3.4 billion cars (Leaf sized/type cars). We have about 1 billion cars on earth now, so maybe we have enough if we start recycling them from our other devices.

Does anyone know of a cradle to grave study of the comparison to producing batteries and electricity to power a car versus producing gasoline?

Although the electric motor is much more efficient than the ICE, I worry we may be trading one type of problem for another. How much energy will it take to recycle these

Or what else could you accomplish with a $11k budget?

They will continue to catch fire, but only once. Good thing there are only 400 of them. /sarcasm

On a serious note, catching fire randomly multiple times after an accident sounds like a new problem that will need to be addressed.
