Is it just me or does a Ford V8 swap into anything that didn’t have one to begin with seem like a really bad idea? We did a 4.3 v6 to 5.7 V8 swap ourselves on a ‘97 Cheyenne thinking it would be fine. That turned out to be way more work than it was worth in time and money. Just buy something with one to start with.

Yes it does, but it doesn’t make you a good one or faster.

I wonder how easy it would be to take the body cladding off. I hope there aren’t a bunch of plastic clips/holes like under the “ribbed” Pontiac or early Avalanches.

I still have it... see the name.

I remember my father describing this GM system to me many years ago, but I was under the impression that it distributed sand on the tires. I just kept thinking it would be great to deploy when some guy is tailgating you.

If they would mount the wheels and tires properly on the car, they could have something. Instead they ruin it.

Envy? Nope, have fun in jail.

It was Motor Trend’s Car of the Year wasn’t it?

My Camaro has been off-road more than most Jeeps...

Resale is so low on most people’s list of criteria when shopping for a car, that it makes me laugh when someone tries to use it as a point of argument when comparing two cars.

I agree. Wife drives a CX9 that used to share this platform. This seems like a reasonable replacement because she hates the looks of the new CX9.

Correction: That should be RS-72 for those who know.

Na, buy one of these...

Just take off that luggage rack.

Goodyear. Only because we had a deal with them that would get us the most free tires for the money. We won a set or two of Hossiers one year. I think we tested them (used them on various Auto-x days as just another set). Not sure if the data came out saying one thing or another, because it was after my time.

We drove all day and most of the night to Detroit to find that someone on our team didn’t book our hotels rooms for that night, rather the evening the day we arrived. So three other guys and I had to sleep in the same Dodge Caravan we just drove cross country in.

Any seat-time before competition was reserved for the drivers since we finished so late. After competition, I had graduated and was done with the politics so I moved on. I had plenty of time in the older cars though.

I built a car in college for Formula SAE. On the smaller teams, you spend most of your free time in the lab either designing the car or building it. Many guys lose a girlfriend, miss out on Spring Break or Family Holidays, spend countless late nights sleeping on the nasty couch in the lab, doing things with tools and

Na, my kids are playing with my old Hot Wheels Sto n’ Go play sets from the 80's.

This car is an amazing powerhouse of design, function and reliably at low cost. The Malibu/Cutlass won Motor Trends car of the year in 1997. How can you fail to mention such an award?
