@neverbeenback: Yes, I'm aware of that, the vac only builds up static in the hose (since dust bouncing around on the way up), so I hold the vac and use a soft brush to lift the dust off the surface; the dust gets sucked into the vac instead of settling everywhere later. It's quite safe unless you start jabbing around

I use a vac because I don't have compressed air. I think it's probably better to get rid of the dust rather than leaving it in the air. Unfortunately it's not as good as compressed air at lifting dust from a surface, damn you fluid dynamics!
