I remember 15, 20 years ago Tyra being on Oprah talking about how she wanted to build her own empire once she aged out of modeling. And she has in her own way.

Yeah I am inclined to give Tyra the benefit of the doubt at the moment. It takes a certain kind of famewhore to not only go on a reality show, but to then do an act based on the birth of their child on said reality show.

The description of that song is so horrible. I imagine they wanted to bring back the hook off the stage from Vaudeville shows.

More to the point, are they really trying to tell us that this took place in front of them and they did nothing, although it was “obviously” horrible for their child?

I don’t know if I believe this - TyTy is often horrible but I don’t get her being physically abusive to a child.

Anyway, I’m quite excited to find out why made him so upset there at the end. Something dastardly if Kidman needed the anatomy book...

Random question that has barely anything to do with this other than I heard “is that my recipe?”:

Once, when I was 16, a boy put “She’s Like the Wind” on a mix tape for me. And that will forever be on my top ten list of dreamiest things ever.

This one confuses me way more than the other abysmal live action remakes. I can almost push myself to understand why people would watch a live action Sound of Music, if it meant one more thing that adults and children can watch together. Dirty Dancing isn’t appropriate for young kids, though, so I would think that

there’s a new subplot in which Baby’s sister solves racism

Yes! But it’s not explicit—it’s woven through the entire setting of the movie. I think it’s easy to miss if you’re not Jewish.

That’s also part of why Jennifer Grey’s nose job was such a big deal. Part of what was so exciting about her casting was seeing our nose on screen, and then it was depressing after the movie to

You can love Dirty Dancing (but if you do, it’s probably your nostalgia talking)

All I really care about is the pink dress. Damn, did I covet that frilly bit of nonsense.

Can everyone control their impulses to collectively shit on this film until it’s actually been released?

Why would you say that? I think that the law that was in place was a good one as it protects victims. Here, you may not like the victims’ politics/religion or whatever, but that doesn’t mean they should be excluded from the law that protects them.

I’ve seen some of it irl too but not in the more exaggerated ways. Howard, for example, is the kind of guy who tells himself he can’t get girls because he’s a nerd but really it’s because he’s a creep. His development out of that mindset was actually pretty well done.

I agree. I think many people don’t enjoy this show because their friends don’t get into arguments about open source software, watch Firefly together, wear superhero costumes at every opportunity etc. I am 38 and these ate my people.

I agree. If you’re in the right circles and it’s relatable, then it’s also enjoyable. In the first 2 seasons, which is more about the guys being scientists. I discovered the show the semester before grad school, while it was getting ready for the 3rd season, and I went back and bingewatched the first 2 seasons. I know

I watch BBT, and I actually enjoy it.
