I feel like a broken person who could never point to the reason why i was broken until i self diagnosed myself. And then it got really bad. I vouldnt talk about it without having people disbelieve this is a real problem and not me making up “excuses” for my tardiness or confusion etc. Therapy was of no help on that

This is largely true and a cliched holdover from the 70s, the Me decade, when pop psych took off. Thats also why cults were so popular in those times. Ive heard people utter this shite line when they knrw nothing of the person other than they were studying it. And it was always said as a putdown by a person who felt

But I feel so alone. and the fact that I cant find competant help has me feeling hopeless.

Like she said, start with yourself, and understand how blaming people for mental illness  is in fact treating them like shit. You dont seem capable of introspection though.

Said most excellently. THANK YOU.

Exactly. If I told you the shit the last one said to me, youd laugh. Angrily. I had to take pains to circumvent their feelings too. And the writer of this column is full of shit, laughable. The reach for justification on not using the word shrink is in fact more victimblaming. like our dear friend kittens says, she is

AN they just told you some of the most convoluted logic ever. If they are shitty at their job, and their work sucks, they arent told to have any introspection or help themselves. They are told in their education that the patient is to blame, for not wanting it. LOL This is such raw sewage. What do YOU think the

kittens is full of shit. you have the logical , thoughtful and sane response to the subject. people like kittens are gaslighting idiots who would blame a patient for actually expecting their mental health worker to actually, you know, WORK with them.

you are SO sanctimonious, you have got to be in the field or training to be. Or just exceptionally stupid and tonedeaf.

But they all somehow learn to take ZERO responsibility for the quality of the work that they are supposed to be doing and all blame the patients. If youre blaming a patient, YOU failed. Period.

I think this is a cliche that has no merit. EVERYone is trying to figure out their issues.

No my friend, see above post> some of the people drawn to these professions have strains of sociopathy, and the rare one might be a diagnosible sociopath. I was on this course at uni and gave it up in disgust when, as I climbed up the courses, the higher igot, the more fucked up the professors were AND the students.

Absolutely not. And just like in the policing business, the psychology field attracts a certain amount of sociopaths, because they want that control over a persons whole being. I once hear that surgeons have high degrees of strains of sociopathy. It has GOT to be much higher in the mental health field. You can

Are you a therapist yourself or in training? Because this is a scenario that is also used by therapists who don’t do their own jobs well enough to help a patient. It’s the SOS victim-blaming. Psychology is a pretty soft science. They are trained in cookie cutter ideas, some of which are frankly bullshit. If youre

I cant star this enough. I could go down a list of boneheaded and ineffectual things my therapist did. First of all they dont thinkthey are giving away any negative emotions but they have no idea. Theyre not in front of a mirror watching themselves.
