Whay have you been cooking? We celebrated our tenth anniversary yesterday the best we could with everything shut down, I made arancini, and tried to make them look “fancy” since we normally would have gone somewhere nice for a big occasion.

My father-in-law died of coronavirus last week. You may remember from a few weeks back that my mother-in-law was basically horrible to him throughout the months leading up to his illness and after he was hospitalized. She’d been putting assets in her own name and doing shady stuff with the family business for months.

Even with actually going into work, I’ve been busy in the kitchen. I made lemon raspberry bread (like banana bread, it’s cake, despite the name) I also made a loaf of multigrain bread with all the seeds, and pecans, and pistachios. It’s very hearty and I’ll be toasting some tomorrow with melted cheese to eat with soup

Well, looks like The Bartender and I aren’t moving to Panama on Wednesday. The mayor of the Panamanian town we were moving to has asked the government to stop all tourists (people without visas) from traveling there. It’s to stop the spread of the coronavirus, of course. Official word will come Monday, but we’re not

Is anyone else getting the impression that a lot of the older adults we’re supposed to be protecting with all this social distancing think it’s all a lot of nothing?

People are starting to panic shop here, and I’m starting to worry about what will happen if everyone is quarantined? Will I not be allowed to go to work? Will I lose my job? We did our best to celebrate my husband’s birthday yesterday, much more subdued than usual, but I managed to badly decorate a cake, an orange
