I think this is the right call for this movie, but that AV Club is making the wrong call for movie reviews generally.

Very excited for this. I absolutely loved the first season. A little disappointed to hear the episode centered on Ramy’s mother and sister aren’t as good as they were in the first season--where they were clear standouts--but hopefully the added Mahershala Ali makes up for it.
Be grateful he didn’t have Ezra appear from nowhere and pull them all to safety.
Won’t somebody think of the corporate chain stores, restaurants and movie theaters!?
Fuck off with these gallery listicles, seriously.
The perfect place for unfunny Bernie bros to end up at
I think Salon has done the best job of covering this so far.
I think Jez is very liberal with how/when they switch between their “lol tabloid” and “Real Journalism™” hats. A lot of the time it’s something sort of in between—they get a-hold of the story, and give their take. In this case, the cat is out of the bag with regard to Reade—the internet hype machine is going, and now…
Given the right’s overt willingness to ratfuck their way to victory using the left’s own pet issues (sexual assault, campaign finance, identity politics, etc.) against us, it unfortunately raises the bar for credibility. I’m not going to pretend that Biden hasn’t been inappropriate in the past, but credibility is…
The mishandling of these allegations do a disservice to everyone—other survivors, listeners, and even reporters attempting to break sexual assault stories—but most of all Reade, who deserves to have her story told responsibly.
#BelieveWomen doesn’t mean no questions or verifications. It doesn’t mean saying an allegation is “credible” because it is an allegation. On what journalistic basis are you saying her unverified, unquestioned allegations are credible? Harrowing, yes; believable, yes—but credible?—show your work.
But this is where we got a weird part of the story. And I don’t mean in a way that discredits the accusation, but rather makes me even more confused about the timeline.
Social media killed fandoms. You’re no longer allowed to have a different opinion from those that yell loudest. No one wants to stand up for what they like when some asshole just shows up to shout you down.
I am utterly mystified by the critical acclaim for this movie. Vulture’s review, like this one, is glowing (the two I read before seeing it); it has a 97% percent positive critical consensus on Rotten Tomatoes (76% audience). I just saw it, and I don’t get it. It’s not that good.
Saw it about a month ago at an advance screening. Mostly good, though I felt like it tried a bit too hard in spots, where a less overt this is funny! approach would’ve worked more naturally. A- is way too high, but somewhere around B sounds about right.
Unfortunately I had some pretty major issues with the episode, I just don’t think the events of the last week’s story should (or could) have been wrapped up so easily. I mean what about the cctv footage at the store which would have shown not only the fight between Ronny and Barry but also Loach shooting at Barry? Or…
Oh, thank god. I had to scroll down a disturbing amount before I found someone who also realized this is loser revenge fantasy bullshit.
how would he even get a photo of the first thanos death? it’s like outta nowhere and its 2 seconds. it’s in and out. this stinks of bullshit.
The problem for me is that if it was a dealbreaker, it probably would have come up before this, in a much more direct way than the water park miscommunication, especially with how casually she mentions it here. Heck, they were good friends for years before dating; at some point she would have mentioned a major life…
