Unfortunately I think the physical transformation is partly because he needed a English-fluent priest for his plan and the old one got stabbed.

Yeah, Rollo and Lagertha seemed to notice something was up about that because normally Ragnar doesn't put Floki into situations where he'll embarrass himself (and he totally was without even realizing, poor bastard).
I know, but like *right at this moment*.
I was wondering what the mask were about— is there a historical thing there?
I didn't mind Paris so much as England. WTF should we be hearing about England right now?
I think the Porunn scene was signalling that she's depressed and maybe suicidal. That might be the exit coming for her character.
Also, he's been shown to be emotionally unstable in other ways (like in some of his scenes with Helga). I think he's also supposed to have some serious issues that probably feed into the zealot-ness.
Yeah, I think the Athelstan of the first season would've preferred this death to becoming someone he wouldn't recognize.
I know, and then after that he strangles a man while his sons are still in the other room…
Well, I kind of saw the 'religious awakening' as some sort of minor stroke or seizure considering he seemed to temporarily lose vision. So I don't think he was thinking clearly.
I kind of read him as also having some sort of actual mental illness also.
The combination of the 'mystic' imagery with Floki's murder is interesting. It could seem to symbolize the patronage of the gods, or nothing, OR the fact that when his #1 fave god kills an unarmed, smiling man in Norse mythology it doesn't exact lead to anything good.
That's the thing with Pete- he's always edging close to brilliance but then screws it up.
Honestly marital rape was horrifyingly accepted for so many years. The fact that they showed it was sort of revolutionary in itself.
I think it should end with Sally and Bobby grown up and the other characters old and way past their prime. Because it basically is the story of the way things changed and brought us the present. They are constructing their children's futures for better or worse. It's not so much happy or sad as a fact of life.
Who knows. A gem version of a bat mitzvah as a coming of age thing would be pretty fun. A lot of non-observant Jews still have like a party.
I saw them because my subtitles are usually on.
Yeah he seemed 12 to 13 to me due to all the flirting with Connie and the growing maturity and responsibility. Wouldn't it be awesome if he had some sort of Bar Mitzvah? Some people have said that Greg is Jewish (I tried to look this up but only got a horrifying amount of antisemitism).
Damn, I need to check out Gate of Hell.
I thought he would at least mention it to her.
