remember: him being republican isn’t why he’s racist. he’d be racist if he were a liberal or democrat too. sadly,for poc,a political affiliation does not protect us from racists.

there’s nothing about this that’s authentically Mexican (the restaurant’s “fresh-mex”). “non-white” is an offensive term to me because it completely erases poc (people of color) and it centers whiteness.

good point. it could be a mixture of the parents name as well.

yep. they don’t realize how racist it is for them to declare that the poc character racial identity was not mentioned. that’s one thing i dislike about white authors: you can go an entire book without them mentioning “white” but they’ll be sure to mention every inauthentic poc character’s race.
