you are a pocket sized cat!

When I did hair, if I had a kid for a client, I pretty much ignored what the parent said and did what the kid wanted.

I actually have an very similar body type to the woman and I'm incredulous that she is plus sized. Cursory googling says she wears a size 16, which doesn't ring true to me at all. She looks like she'd go from a 6 to a 10 depending on the fit.

I'm not shorter than you, but still pretty short :)

I'm aware of those shitbags but personally, I've seen more guys drooling over her than dissing her.

Thank you! To those of us who actually are plus-sized, there is nothing "plus-sized" about her. She's just what a normal, healthy woman looks like. Doubting she's ever seen the inside of a Lane Bryant or Avenue.

Short AF

And they did that by telling women that "thin is in".

But I can see where the OP is coming from because in retrospect the decision to pick Ashley isn't that groundbreaking and of course if they're going to pick a plus sized woman, it's going to be a white woman who's curvy but not too big. So it's a big deal but it's also not.

I remember when Jezebel had a post that showed every Swimsuit Issue cover. In the 60s and 70s a lot of the models were not much thinner than this plus sized model. Models didn't use have to have a BMI of 17.

My prediction: guys will go crazy over this because they're not as obsessed with thinness as the fashion industry, and maybe, just maybe, the fashion industry will think, "hmmm perhaps we can market plus sized women after all!!" Because you know, that was always impossible. I'm glad she got this opportunity. She looks

Um... I'm wondering if the sarcasm didn't come across. Cliff notes version: it's totally ludicrous that this is breaking news. This model fits every conventional standard of beauty except extreme thinness. in real life, she probably stops traffic. And I am guesstimating that she wears a combo of size 6 to 10,

Thank you. I certainly try.

amen! Exactly my point but you did it much more eloquently.

How about... we have a commercial where the size 14 woman casually walks out to her neighborhood pool, followed by her size 2, size 8, and size 18 friends, all wearing various swimwear of their choice, in front of a group of dudes.

I mean, even without any sort of body judgement on anyone, I find it absolutely fucking amazing what the modeling industry in general thinks constitutes "plus-size." Because, honestly, most of the plus-size models I see are like average people, which is absolutely bonkers.

LOL "plus-sized." Riiiiiight.

These campaigns always crack me up. Hey, everybody, we are going to put one - just one, we don't want to do anything too crazy - hot, young, average-sized woman in our magazine to show how we are totally open-minded and inclusive of all body types and all forms of beauty. We are saints!

plus size. How about just healthy, natural, beautiful? I'm into this all day long everyday ad infinitum...
