You’re not alone! At least not in that aspect.

in the new Rick Alverson (Entertainment, The Comedy) film

The nuns never owned it. That’s part of bring a Catholic religious order. The Church owns the property. Even property that was donated to your order. It has, literally, been that way for 2,000 years. Welcome to the kleptocracy.

John McCain

Who was the “couldn’t give a fuck”?

The nuns don’t have a plight. They weren’t living there anymore anyway. If they’ve got issues with their retirement planning, that’s nothing in which Katy Perry should have to involve herself.

Just in case anyone else was wondering, the two nays were Ron Wyden of Oregon and Rand Paul.

This has been repeated on every article they’ve done on this.

“and this inane fight against a pop star who demands that the world bends to her will”

You’re missing nothing. I’m actually finding it...depressing that Jezebel is still running with this narrative after most other websites, including some not so female friendly ones, have cleared it up.

Not a Katy Perry fan, but she seems to be being villainized for something that is exclusively the fault of the archdiocese (unless I’m missing something). Perry is just trying to buy a property that was apparently on sale, the dispute of who owns the property is really not on her.

Why did you choose photo illustrations that want us all to feel like it’s 6 in the morning at an illegal underground club and we’re in the K-hole seeing Crystal visions and hoping we don’t die on this dirty restroom floor?

It’s hard for me to picture a world where bookstores are a thing of the past, I don’t think that’s going to happen.

Archaeologists don’t study fossils. They have their own cool field of human history (and the occasion Holy Grail). Palaeontology is the study of fossils.

This article gave me all of the feels.

So many important memories at this bookstore. I wish we could protect all of them as historical monuments or publicly funded meetings spaces. Thanks to Wild Iris for hanging on so many years (and for its place in southern feminist history).

You’ve got a brand new account so you’re probably a troll, but damned if “all seashells are 65 millions years old” isn’t the most hilariously wrong thing I’ve heard in days.

I am traditional in the sense where... I just want a clean photo high res photo for my eyes to explode upon.

I mean, I’m youngish (under 30) and I do those things, read paper books and buy them from bookstores. I don’t have anything against electronic books (I sometimes use them), but for me paper books are far, far superior. I don’t actually think I know anyone who truly prefers electronic over paper.

I used to go to feminist bookstores in the late ‘80s. It was wonderful to go into a space where everything on the shelf could be mind-blowing. I’m sad these spaces are closing.
