I say get whichever Lexus ES 300h or Toyota Avalon Hybrid (likely a 2013-2015 vintage of either) falls cleanly into your budget. They’re comfortable, you don’t really notice the road while driving one, they handle decently, and they get 40 MPG combined.

Small cars are at odds with everything else they want.  I think they will be much happier with a longer wheelbase.  No time for looking up  pricing but this seems like a great job for a Lexus ES or if they want to be different a Buick.

I’ll probably get roasted, but I never cared for American Top Gear. Some bits here and there were funny/entertaining, but overall, it wasn’t good. Not sure I’d call it the worst though.
