I have recently been checking into the Hex: Shards of Fate beta (been backing, but never really got around to play). So I build my deck and start playing, and the first few games go well.

Then I draw 7 resource cards. In a 60 card deck with 25 resource cards, the chance for that is low, but I think "Hey, a quirk, go

My main problem with the concept is - a toddler alone in a dark house, at night, I can imagine that to be scary. Hell, nobody wants to go down into a dark cellar. But the area shown in the video is too far from reality for me. Everything being dark and gloomy, hidden passageways, glowing flowers... I was hoping it

Those bulges. Seems like the artist is all for equal rights with big bosomed heroines - them birds are packing! (Can't be unseen)

Now just imagine the glorious foil prints of these cards...! "Shiny" wouldn't even begin to describe it. I kinda want those cards now...

The whole thing is based on characters from Asian fables, folklore and stereotypes. It has originally been made for a Japanese audience by a Japanese Mangaka (duh). How could anyone have the audacity to assume that the characters could not look like American teenagers, right?

If wonder if it could've been made "realistic" without making it look "Hollywood"? Not a single character looks even remotely Asian to me (not counting Shen-Long).

We had pretty much exactly the same discussion with the previous console generation, and everyone was utterly outraged about the amount of power both the PS3 and Xbox 360 gobbled down at launch - the 360 specifically up to 175W,instead of the 70 it uses 9 years later. Then came the hardware revisions, and it got

I love the PPG and Johnny Bravo remakes. The others however I really, really don't like, with an extreme being the Sailor Moon one, for which I would like to bring slight physical pain to the artist. Maybe a nipple twister.

Flowerpower-Shaggy would NEVER wear Italian leather shoes. Or at least I hope he never would. Bleh :/ (Yes, it's a silly thing to get hung up on xD)

Stuff like this is why I keep going back to EVE every now and then (maybe 4 months of playtime in 10 years). I'm just not made for the type of gameplay, but I love zooming through space in my shiny ships...

My mother, of all the people, won a Philips CD-I back when it was new, including MPEG cartridge and The 7th Guest. I knew adventures from my C64 and DOS PC already (Fate of Atlantis, I miss you), and my mum has been hooked to adventures and puzzle games ever since.

I had that for my Atari 2600... including the numeric pad it came with for extra commands. I had no idea what the game was meant to do and the commands for the numeric pad made no sense whatsoever to me xD

The copyright issues aside, these look great, and I thought about getting them. But $220 for plastic figures that probably have a material worth of less than a dollar? Maybe if they'd be hand painted by the priests of an ancient cult of himalayan monks and blessed by the Dalai Lama personally. But otherwise... No.

I fear Aku no Hana was ruined for me by the Anime (available on Crunchyroll), which was pretty much unwatchable and overly creepy :/

It is indeed. It had an amazing sense of lightness attached to it, it was a pure joy to read, really.

Oh, Kotaku is reviewing Manga now? That's pretty cool, I always liked Richard's Anime articles. I'd love to know what you think of Kabu no Isaki. I read that some time ago and found it absolutely enthralling. Would love to see an Anime adaption of this.

Shrimps don't really look that much better, and yet they're incredibly popular... Urchins etc. are eaten as well. Crabs, lobsters... Yeah, this looks like a deep sea roach, but still *shrugs* Other seafood looks just as horrible

That's not Japanese publishing houses specifically, but Japanese companies in general, due to a extremely acidic copyright laws in Japan. Nintendo trying to forbid livestreams of their games comes to mind, for instance.

So, I do wonder - what about pure "slice of life" Anime? I would usually put them under Seinen, but Seinen only mentions "Let's see how dark and/or bloody we can make it" Anime. Slice of Life is mentioned under Josei only.

So what about (the fantastic) Space Brothers, or Silver Spoon? Stuff that just depicts everyday

I love shows that make me think, that have some meaning behind them - Ergo Proxy comes to mind, or more recently A Blast of Tempest or Shin Sekai Yori.
