In much the same way as I won’t give money to Chick-fil-A because they are actively hostile to women and LGBTQ folks.  Exactly.

There are probably more brands I wouldn’t buy than there are ones I would these days, honestly:

Mercedes. Worst car I ever owned. Literally one week after warranty was up, had catastrophic breakdown (due to faulty part, not anything that I could have avoided) that took out bottom half of engine (harmonic balancer was faulty and wrecked a bunch of other stuff). Needed over $11k in repairs, after much fighting and

Jaguar. I purchased a new ‘17 F-Pace in 2016. Things failed on that car that I didn’t even know cars have. Creaks and rattles from mile 1. The InConrol system would make Gandhi take a hammer to it. The A/C compressor failed on day 3. Between recalls and breakdowns it was at the dealer about 25% of the time, and since

Tesla. I will never own a Tesla. I will never give that man or any of the companies he controls a penny.

VinFast. When every car publication universally tells you “don’t buy a vehicle from them”, I am inclined to listen to said advice.

Tesla, because they ignore decades of user interaction experience in favor of a (cheaper) touchscreen that does it all. And because they “inspired” all the other manufacturers to do the same buttonless, soulless touchscreen-focused interior.

VW. Because of an experience with a early 70s Fastback in the late 70s. Piece of SHITE car. And I have yet to hear anything really positive (but many negatives including the company being lying liars who lie).

Tesla, because Elon.

Chrysler & FIAT - now a two-fer. Most were convertibles and all were less than half a car.

BMW

Volkswagen. Never again.

I wonder if it’s more dangerous all around repo’ing Harleys, I imagine the ven diagram of Harley owners and itchy trigger fingers is pretty high.

This post leaves the important bits out. From a Dodge press release:

Right? I feel like I’m missing something, but maybe it actually is just spoiled ass rich people.

I rarely side with automakers or dealers, but damn these owners suck and just need to deal with it. This is literally how every consumer product works. Unless there was a contract or documentation stating these would never be made again... too fucking bad? This is what you get for overpaying for stupid vehicles.

No Weinermobile?

As a supply chain manager for over 10 years I have to add...nothing really...you’re both on the money I think.  The only thing forcing us back to the USA is freight costs.

I agree on what you said wholeheartedly seeing as how air pollution in all Chinese cities even on a good day is often worse than the air pollution we experienced here in California at the worst of the fire season. Every single day of the week air pollution there is awful. That said, the CCP knows its a problem. They

All your points are true, but there is an additional detail that is often overlooked. A lot of the industry that was out-sourced to China is very dirty and damaging to the environment. Think of the Pennsylvania steel industry, and how it wreaked havoc on that regions ecology for decades. That’s China’s problem now.
