I think they do. In this case, what he’s really saying is that people should be banished to a violent hellscape if they show contempt for the State symbols. They are religious fanatics; except their God is the State.

Can I distract from trump for a moment to put a microscope over one of his wack-a-doo supporters?

Thank you. It sounds like an interesting topic. I appreciate your patience.

Can I get out of this conversation before it gets more ridiculous?

Everyone can see, from your pleasant conversational style, that you are not racist.

Your reading comprehension is sorely lacking. I never said you weren’t human. You are, however, incredibly unreasonable for assuming that my (non-existent) hatred of gospel music, or my ever-growing frustration with you, is racially motivated.

Thank you for being a reasonable human being.

I’m only continuing to engage with you after a stroll through your discussions has convinced me you aren’t a troll.

Either you’ve severely misunderstood the central thesis of my original comment, or you’re a troll; Patti.

*sigh* And I suppose if I said I thought it was a cheap trick to sing Hava Nagilah at a talent show in Israel, that would make me an anti-Semite?

I was going to make essentially this joke, but I thought i’d stroll down to the greys to see if someone worded it better than I was about to.

Fair enough!

Nothing at all is wrong with a gospel hymn. I actually like quite a few. I’m objecting to when people take something of great significance and seriousness and incorporate it into their art just in order to distract people from their lack of talent. I saw one guy sing the anthem at a talent contest and he did way

As the holocaust (and its survivors) pass out of living memory for most of the world’s population, we will unfortunately be seeing more of this jackassery. To these people, it’s just a convenient source of gravitas they can use to smear onto their artistic endeavours. They probably think it hides how little talent

That app sounds awesome. I always hated that aspect of academic papers.

I came here because I thought this would be about Polyphemus. What happened to him? I bet he wandered off a cliff.

I’m just grateful for an article that isn’t about the election. I’m not sure they care about the regular readership. If they can attract more clicks by pandering to a rabid jackal-pack who like to tear down anyone who stands taller than they do, you can bet they’ll do it.

Because most people are dumb as ditch posts, and questions like that don’t really make it across the vast, arid savannah between their ears.

The author knows that already. And now that he has our clicks.

It’s purposely crafted that way in order to generate controversy. The outrage spawns clicks. The author shows no nuanced thinking with one hand, and plenty of balanced, cogent thought with the other. He’s basically setting up the bowling pins for us to knock down.
