Did the opening theme music have more kick this week? I don’t remember so much trumpet in the most recent arrangement. (And I’m still not fond of the current opening titles - blurry image / blurry image / blurry image / SHARP IMAGE!)

I know, it doesn’t all add up. But I can hallucinate, can’t I?

I always felt that the perfect casting for Quirrell was Rowan Atkinson - he starts as Mr. Bean but turns into Blackadder II. (And I always envisioned Pierce Brosnan as Lockhart as well.)

And what a score by Nicholas Britell this week. I think this was the first time the theme had been played (briefly) on guitar, but that explosion of strings in the finale was just thrilling.

Okay, I said I was gonna shut up about this, but I just got a notification about a “pending” response to my post, and I’m not seeing it here yet.  This person felt that the boiler room didn’t have the same level of production-design care as the rest of the series, almost as if it was a set.  Like on a cheesy TV series

It’s the radical change of tone in the last episode that I’m objecting to, turning her into a mass murderer from having specific, targeted victims. But hey, as I’m reading five-star recaps and enthusiastic praise for what a strong finale this was, I’m clearly in the minority on this, so, following your lead, this is

If they hadn’t run into the one tenant who smelled something funny, there’d be no reason to even GO to the boiler room, where she’s patiently waiting for them to show up.

Then why make a big deal of starting his fireplace? And still - one gas or another, now she’s murdering scores of innocent tenants?

I am heartbreakingly disappointed. All of a sudden she’s a Bond villain, willing to kill hundreds in a gas explosion? And she’s such a mastermind that she knows exactly how to swap ducts in the boiler room, at a moment’s notice? And yeah, that note on the door was an intentional and dishonest manipulation of the

The Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, Alabama has an annual Clint Howard Character Actor Award.  And it’s not a joke.

I can’t believe that this dire episode, and the host, are getting better reviews than this elsewhere. The front page of the Washington Post, for crying out loud, has the headline “KKW Breathes Life Into SNL.”

I’d just like to mention something about the mechanics of Emmy voting (I’ve actually been a judge). Judges are not supposed to think about an actor’s entire season, or even more than one episode. They get DVDs or digital files of the single episode the actor (or the studio) has submitted, and theoretically they are

It got several nominations for casting and guest actors, but the series itself was never nominated.  Ever.

In terms of a distinctive comedy style unlike anything else on TV, I will always cherish how this show FELT. And looking back to the beginning, I remember not really wanting to check this out - “A cop comedy on FOX starring Andy Samberg” - but it was the casting of Andre Braugher that got me watching, and the show abso

Guy Ritchie’s feature version of “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.”  This was my absolute favorite show as a teenager (well, at least the first season, before it got RIDICULOUSLY stupid) so I had serious doubts about the casting and the approach.  The first half hour is DELIRIOUSLY fun, and I wound up loving the fact that Solo

You beat me to it.  Movies with punchlines that good are really rare.

Is it streaming for free anywhere? I missed the live broadcasts and (free) Peacock only goes up to Season 7. If I have to upgrade a streaming service just so I can see one network show the next day, that, frankly, sucks.

Hey, a Jessica Chastain role this year where she LOOKS like Jessica Chastain!

If you have any opportunity, check out one of his (unfortunately) rare leading roles, as an Irish tenor in the comedy “Hear My Song.” It doesn’t appear to be streaming anywhere at the moment, but it may still be available at your public library. Writer-director Peter Chelsom’s next film, the inspired “Funny Bones”

These past four albums have been just extraordinary. If he did a concert with just material like this, I would be first in line. I have NO nostalgic desire to hear “Thunderball” or “Delilah” live.
