I'm 28 and I don't know anyone who can hem, or set or put a button on a thing. Like... my mom does it, sometimes. And her friends. But zero people under the age of 40.... and those that can are the crafty types.
I'm still self sufficient. I can buy a new shirt, or pay someone to sew it. *shrug* good enough.
I have a student code of conduct that prescribes my behaviour as a student (1) on campus (2) while representing the University as a designated delegate off campus. That's it. Why should a school have any right to anything more than that?
This is kind of my question. I'm in college now - I didn't sign anything saying "If you are convicted of a crime you will be expelled." In fact, how would the university even know?
The Inuit absolutely practice sustainable hunting. If any group has an interest in ensuring that seal populations remain robust, it is the Aboriginals.
So - fair enough. There is evidence to show that seals eat enough fish to affect the maritime fisheries, but evidence also supports your side and I'm not going to argue it. I've been convinced otherwise but I am not really here to play that game.
Every year there are protests and comments on the seal cull. Some countries threaten sanctions against Canada for allowing it to happen, or subsidizing it. Is the seal hunt in immediate danger? No. But it has been maligned in the media as a barbaric practice which is absolute bullshit.
Yes. They choose to live there, and maintain their way of living and culture. And yes, they are absolutely too poor to move.
Admittedly the effect on the fishing industry is debated and evidence supports both sides - and I agree that there are a myriad of factors outside seal populations that affect cod populations. There is evidence to back up my point, so it is not completely untrue as you claim.
I can dig your feelings here - she was flippant. But I think that is in response to the animal rights activism that put animal rights above her human rights. They are being flippant about her survival, and this was her way of addressing it.
You would argue that killing seals isn't a net positive? How exactly could you do that? It's not even close to true. If the seal hunt didn't exist there is a chance an entire culture would be destroyed by famine, thousands of people would die or be displaced. I really don't need to have another point, but I'll add…
Or this.
"Many generations of vacine researchers?" Like a family business? Which vaccines did your ancestors research?
Really? That kind of blows my mind. I was also a teen in the early 2000's and oral sex was a thing everyone did.
yea, something like 25% of chronic hep B infections in children (pre vaccine) were not the result of mother to child transmission. But for some reason it's a disease only for gays and druggies and sluts. Logic is hard.
Be careful of the internets!!
The evidence for PEP in non-occupational cases is certainly less strong than in occupational exposures - but I wouldn't imply that PEP is ineffective of questionable in any way.
AND when an HIV+ person experiences stigma from their healthcare provider, not only are they less likely to go back to that HCP but any HCP. They have less confidence in their medication and they are THREE TIMES more likely to be non-adherent to their meds.
Clients at my agency still experience people double- gloving—…
meh. It's how people reference it colloquially. I know what they mean, you know what they mean - language is about conveying meaning so hey- it works!
I'm always surprised. I am an HIV educator and I hear misinformation every single day— but I am still always shocked at the very basic lack of knowledge.
