Keep in mind that the Thor 2 tie-in was them cleaning up the post-battle rubble, and introducing an Asgardian character who had nothing to do with the movie.

For global warming, I think he is thinking about statistics/science they way that most Americans do: at worst expect the average; on average expect above average; and if the climate is getting warmer globally then expect that every local weather must be getting warmer every day.

I've watched all the episodes. I don't think there is any harm in checking out the first two seasons. Like Lord Gaga and Serenyty say, it is amusing and enjoyable, but not an amazing cerebral crime series or anything like that.
