"Such as?" As you might have guessed, my initial post was mostly for the humor, and I wouldn't expect rigorous consistency from a series like TNG, which is built on stand-alone episodes rather than serialized story-telling. So don't take my comments on this topic too seriously.

I already threw out the idea that he deliberately sent their invitations too late. Considering how his ideas were treated in the Enterprise meeting room, the bridge crew would mock his wedding plans.

I'm outraged.
Of course she is useful.
Otherwise, how would Picard ever figure out that the enemy captain attacking them is angry and distrustful?

I was thinking the same thing. A lot of Guinan's stuff were gifts from Picard. Guess that is the advantage of having a family vineyard and brewery.

Sara Prophet: "The Sisko has fulfilled his Destiny."
Prophet #2: "Sara, its your turn to scrub the septic tank."
Sara Prophet: "…"
Sara Prophet: "The Sisko must still face many tasks."

"How do you feel about being called a 'Britta', Dr. Lector?"
"Would you mind staying for dinner? I've suddenly developed a craving for some liver and fava beans."

"I am Kurn Dax. The symbiont was dying, and there were no other hosts available. Now excuse me, Benjamin. I must tell Worf that his brother is now his ex-wife."

Now I'm imagining that every symbiont was stuck in Riker… Have you seen Slither? The woman in the barn who produced thousands of alien slugs? Something like that.

The double date of Jake-Ezri and barbarianMolly-Alexander would have been fascinating. (Especially when interrupted by Nog and a Dabo girl.)

"Try rotating the shield harmonics!"
"No good, captain. NuDisqus has already adapted and made our browser useless."

Guinan also served a great no-fat frogurt.
Troi insisted that it tasted like real chocolate ice cream.

Yeah, Data did that for Scotty after he said, "What is this? I said I wanted a drink!"

If they were forced to stick to the details of "The Host", then they'd probably have to make the Ferengi a "serious" threat to the Federation, like they were originally intended.

"Captain, I've heard that Wesley Crusher has sprained his pinkie finger. Am I allowed to follow Klingon tradition and execute him?"
"There's no Klingon tradition for that!"
"Please?"

“Multiple scenes with Garak” will improve just about anything.

I've always wondered about Picard's speech to Worf, where he says that they respect all traditions on the Enterprise.

I agree with you about what the story was doing. But that's why I mentioned it was amusing that his reverse psychology was actually closer to the truth.

That's the trouble.
It is a dickish move by the Prophets.
But it is also in character for them. "What do you mean, spend time raising a child to adulthood? There is no difference between now and the creation event and the death event."

At least some of that is covered later on (in "Prodigal Daughter").
But I still agree with most of what you said.

Joined Trills are definitely honored in that society, so it is not a stretch that a symbiont (the limiting factor for Joining) would be given extreme measures.
