I love your shame-eating Santiago avatar.

Best season opening credits of The Wire? I'm dull so I go for S2 with the original, honking Tom Waits version. The worst is the teenage girls from S4.

My twitter feed is full of people who watch both Teen Wolf and The Good Wife. I know them all from here as well…

Meanwhile, in Australia… I was flipping through channels at midday last Saturday and a repeat of Charmed was on free-to-air television. Charmed. Middle of the day in 2014.

Will Scheff of Okkervil River wrote some really interesting criticism for Audiogalaxy before they shut down. I used to love his reviews back in the day and was fascinated to learn that that critic went on to become the frontman for one of my favourite bands.

Tangential, but I only listened to Tango in the Night for the first time last month… where had it been all my life?

I'm sorry, the answer we were looking for was Jagged Little Pill.

I know! I wish War on Drugs and The Hold Steady had released their albums further apart, I'm really not ready to stop listening to the former every possible minute I get yet!

Whereas I figure I might head to a Scandinavian country so they can elect some neoliberals to dismantle their welfare states and introduce radical free market reforms to devastate their health and education sectors.

I very cleverly moved back to NZ from abroad within weeks of National being elected, then moved to Australia just in time to see the ALP completely implode and then watch Abbott get elected a year later.

Yeah, he has one hell of a bum chin too!

You don't like Aerial? The first disc at least is impeccable.

Yes, I suspect it may have some correlation to the 30-35% of the country that regularly vote National/ACT/NZ First.

I like your damning of Darby's show with faint praise, he really is the poor man's Michael Winslow.

Based on Darby's stand-up and everything he has done outside of FotC, this will likely be terrible. He will make a lot of wacky noises though.

Yeah, "mah-orr-ee" is at least ensuring the differentiation between the a and the o. If you're a redneck you can just say "maa-ree", much of New Zealand does anyway.

Shit, I meant Jonathan Demme and have no idea whatsoever why I said Mamet, who doesn't even direct… all I can think of is that I maybe confused Demme with David Mallet, then turned that into Mamet?

Ah, 15 then… the positive thing about it being 15 shows at the same venue is that there is almost no excuse not to film it and make a concert film.

Sadly just 18 shows in London at this point. I'd stab a bastard to see her, but that bastard would need to have plane tickets from Melbourne to Heathrow for me to be able to make it

Almost Killed Me by The Hold Steady and Thunder Lightning Strike by The Go! Team are two excellent albums that turn 10 this year, would be love to hear bonus materials from those (aside from the stuff on the Australian release of the former).
