I remember learning of this game back in 2014 at a low point in my life. It gave me something to look forward to and I’m really happy it’s coming out.

Yeah, Arma 2 and DayZ consecutively have a multiple chat system. Side which is global chat (Normally turned off nowadays in DayZ), proximity which is how you hear the distance relationship, and only people near you can text chat. Also there's vehicle chat and something else.
