Even after reading the article I still had to find out from another commenter that CF has a 97% infertility rate among men. Gee wouldn’t it have been nice to put that in the article.

When we did IVF, we had a bunch of really great embryos left over. Master Poodler is having tween troubles, but is healthy and reasonably attractive and reasonably intelligent.

Technically they did adopt. Embryo adoption is less expensive than traditional adoption and there’s far less risk that the process will fail (beyond the usual risk of miscarriage or a failed transfer). For folks who believe that life begins when sperm meets egg, this is a great option.

Literally, the most insensitive thing any person could say to a couple going through infertility treatment is ‘why don’t you just adopt’ like it’s going to the fucking pound and getting a puppy. I spent a fortune on IVF and it was still cheaper than adoption.

This is an interesting conversation, because unlike some conversations about pay disparities, neither of these people is a household name. It seems hard to justify large disparities if they have similar disparity and air time.
