The only thing that surprises me about this is that he didn’t lean more on Trump’s anti-first amendment positions given he’s been very first amendment focused on the past.

I have to say, this is a major reason why I grew to like Seth Meyers. He features his own talented writers on screen and he seems genuinely interested in most of his guests - not just waiting for them to give him an excuse to talk.
That still blows my mind. This man admitted under oath to raping a child then fled the country to avoid his jail sentence and people who work with him are like....eh, whatever??? If Weinstein gets kicked out of the Academy Polanski should definitely be next.
The thing is I understood what she was trying to say, but the problem was her execution. This paragraph here was a huge problem:
It’s been a consistent pattern for some time. And that pattern is now visible to most people thanks to persistent online media.
If I were being sexually harassed, Woody Allen would be the last fucking person I would talk about it with. He’d probably take it as an invitation to unleash his special creepiness.
That’s what stood out to me, too. He doesn’t say no one ever came to him or told him horror stories; he says that he never took them seriously when they did. Because victims’ stories aren’t the important thing. Sexual assault only count if important, powerful men decide to believe it happened.
I marvel at what kind of fucked-up world we live in where this man, this fucking cartoonish bad guy who would be hammy and over the top as antagonist in one of those crappy Disney direct-to-video live-action heaps of dreck, is like the 4th or 5th worst person in this fat old white man version of a professional…
“No one ever came to me or told me horror stories with any real seriousness,” he said.
I know we’re mostly talking about Woody Allen here, but I really still don’t get how anyone can rationalize working with Polanski, a confessed and convicted child rapist.
“You also don’t want it to lead to a witch hunt atmosphere, a Salem atmosphere, where every guy in an office who winks at a woman is suddenly having to call a lawyer to defend himself. That’s not right either...”
“No one ever came to me or told me horror stories with any real seriousness,” he said.
He doesn’t want this turned into a witch hunt because he’s worried he’ll be next in line. Unfortunately I don’t think that he has anything to worry about...cognitive dissonance and Hollywood go hand in hand . It’s all sickening.
1. Woody Allen is an absolute pig fuck, as is Harvey Weinstein.
Dear Men,
“And they wouldn’t, because you are not interested in it. You are interested in making your movie.”
I’m so relieved the perv that slept with his wife’s adopted daughter is here to help us all morally navigate the Weinstein scandal.
I feel like there are a bunch of “innocent overtures” that are easy to avoid.
If you are in a position of power over someone it’s basically impossible for an overture to be innocent. You may intend it that way, but the other party can’t know that at the time. You may intend to just drop it and move on with your life if you’re rejected, but the other party will be wondering “will there be…
