I’m really sorry about your aunt. I disagree though that being able to volunteer with children after kidnapping, torturing, raping and murdering them is any person’s right. That she is allowed to have a private life and family of her own after taking that opportunity away from three others, including her own sister,

OK, then maybe you should invite her to volunteer at your kid’s school.

How can anyone look at a story like this, which in the timeline puts it AFTER Russians influencing the election, and not see treason?! I just don’t understand.

Joe Biden spoke last year at ND and was protested as well. I think bringing in Pence is actually hilarious shade at Trump. But in general I think schools should cut the practice of political speakers at commencement altogether. They have so many grads who could speak about interesting topics, why not do that?

Also because many of the parents (and students) agree with Pence. Many very very conservative families send students to ND, so many of these students who walked out could very well be in a fight with their family after.

Agree with you SO MUCH

I really really wish schools would stop using commencement as a way to give politicians platforms. It is so divisive, and it has made three out of the four graduations of me and my siblings really tense because we have different political views from our parents. I think schools should feel free to have politicians

They literally invite the newly inaugurated president every time there has been one, and for a school as conservative as ND (where Obama spoke in 2009 and it was also a huge deal and some students refused to attend and some people sat in and interrupted his speech by screaming “MURDERER” and were escorted out),

Except I don’t think Lindsey Graham has any grandkids since he is unmarried and likely gay. He has been thinking his party is crazy, even for his own taste, for a while, but has still been falling in line until now. It feels so strange to agree with him.

HOLY SHIT. That is nuts. I honestly wonder if her ghost writers were purposely trolling her.

The question for me is how did they end up on the island when there were mountains of the Casper mattresses there?

I think this is true of party leaders, but not of the average reps. I don’t believe stupidity can be so flawlessly faked, and so many of the statements coming out of House Republicans are shockingly mindless.

I have consumed every Fyre Festival form of media possible, so I have to wonder: why the bloody mattresses? There were mountains of mattresses that were soggy but blood free all over the island. Where did the bloody ones even come from?! The lack of A/C is no surprise given everything else, and it means they didn’t do

I know it’s shitty of me, but I hope so.

This! Just when I think I’m out, Fyre Festival pulls me back in.

The only thing the AHCA has proven (other than Republicans’ complete disdain for their constituents) is that Republicans do not understand anything about how insurance works. At all. It is infuriating, and this story is heartbreaking.

Thank you! This WAS the perfect place to post that. I had seen a lot of that guy’s tweets, but he is wrong. I do not envy him or any of the people at the festival. And I weep for my generation if Kendall Jenner and Blink 182 are considered A-list celebrities!

I just said to my husband (we both work from home) “I’m still in my PJs, I need to do something or at least eat, but I just keep sitting here reading about Fyre Festival.”

Exactly! No one would pay so much to see the bands they said were going to be there, and if the bands hadn’t showed, but the rest was in place, their instagrams would still have looked just as good. This is everything wrong with millennials.

Yeah. I mean, I can’t really understand paying over $50 to see them, but if you’re a fan, I would feel bummed for you if the concert fell through normally. But in this scenario I have spent the entire weekend reading about it and cackling!
