Obviously they are only one game type, but I would argue they're the most important one that sets Destiny apart from other FPS games. It isn't their story, that's for sure. But...They've effectively walled it off for people who don't have enough high level players on their friends list.
This is the biggest reason I've avoided Destiny to this point. I played the beta, and while I wasn't blown away, the mechanics and gunplay were solid enough that I would likely be able to enjoy it, especially with friends. I wouldn't have trouble getting folk together for strikes, but I'd never be able to fill out a…
Do you feel the same about movies involving violence? What about novels?
Definitely getting these:
I wanted to like it! My friend and I tried it and were just underwhelmed. The biggest thing for us was the weaponry. We've been replaying some Halo games lately, and Destiny's weapons just don't compare to the selection and unique uses of each weapon in Halo. The rifles all feel similar, and I didn't pick up anything…
Well, considering that your comment above implied that if he had played the game he would like it, it seemed necessary to inform you that, yes, there are people that have played it and did not like it.
I played the beta and came away with the same feeling. In fact, I'm glad I played the beta, because it prevented me from purchasing the game today.
Keith Olbermann actually called for just that:
I just wanted to post this for you to give a read. Mr. Kuchera is far more educated on this stuff either of us, but he seems to be in agreement with most of my commentary. I think he does a better job of explaining it, too, as would be expected. It was a pleasure speaking with you, and hopefully this clarifies some of…
You say the previous game wasn't a flop, I don't think anyone said it was. They felt it under performed. If you think they had unreasonable expectations that's fine, it's your opinion, I'm just telling you it means absolutely nothing.
Money on top of what it would have made, while doing no extra work, is, by definition, free.
No, but it is free money so long as:
Which would be correct...if anyone thought this exclusivity was permanent. If it is, you have a point. But...since it almost certainly is timed exclusivity, you do not. They're having their cake and eating it too. Again, this is free money, and the only people they've pissed off are people a small minority, who, once…
Because it does. SE's goal is to be profitable. They don't need to care about how they get there, only that they do. They care about making money, and secondarily, keeping their staff employed. If they were given the opportunity to do that, and the only downside was pissing off a bunch of consumers (who again, will…
I don't know if they would or not, but it can't hurt. I think someone mentioned earlier in the comments that it probably is less about Tomb Raider alone as much as it is when combined with Halo, Quantum Break, and (I assume by next year we'll get some news on) Gears. All it really does is strengthen a library, kinda…
It actually makes a lot of sense, when you think about it. If it is a timed exclusive (which seems to be the case) then whatever money MS threw at SE get that window is just going to get put on top of the haul from sales. It still will sell just fine on all platforms, once available, so it's a no-lose situation for…
Now this is the kind of game that should be remastered for new generation hardware. Fantastic (though perhaps flawed) games that were kind of overlooked when they came out. This and Metro Redux are exactly what I'm looking for.
Wow, you've mastered sarcasm. Congratulations.
If it does cut out other players aside from my fireteam when I get into the areas that are shrouded in darkness or whatever they called it, that's the least they should do. I still don't want an overworld before each mission polluted with randos. Having people around at the tower and such, fine, no problem. But I…
