My 2 early theories were she either lied to cover up how careless of a mistake she made, or that she was lying to cover up a relationship turned sour.

Yup, a lot of churches find old retail bix box stores, malls etc and make them into huge churches.

Some of my best childhood memories are of riding my bike with my friends to our local Toys R Us (since converted to a mega church). Collecting badges was cool as fuck, and actually getting to meet and play against kids from all over the city was awesome.
