The cynic in me is having a hard time giving EA grief over this. The service really does pay itself off over a year if you know you'll buy at least one EA title throughout the year.

I make a lot of money every day selling to people unsolicited. I work in an industry where it's very easy for me to identify my target prospects so that helps my percentage of closed cold calls, but the concept still holds true.

I'm with you. I enjoy my FPS games like I enjoy my action flicks. Let me binge on adrenaline, but make sure it's of good quality. The multiplayer is an afterthought for me.
