Having said all that, I have a gripe with the color selection. Like the last one, the GTI pretty much comes in white, black, red and an array of silver/grays. The outlier is Night Blue, which doesn't seem as brilliant as the Shadow Blue I got on my Mk6, but it's likely the one I'd get for the sake of being different.

I don't know, using a broom is pushing it.

Well since the answer can't always be "Miata" how about the Miata's bigger brother? The CX-5 has the best dynamics of any of its contemporaries and can definitely baby. It's available with a stick, produces great fuel mileage (for a CUV), and can fit a decent amount of baby junk in the back. We're expecting our first

I'm still hoping it ends up close to this render

That $5k difference will buy you:

I'm a VW GTI fanboy- have been since I chose to buy a 2007 GTI over a 2007 Mazdaspeed3. I modded/tracked, and drove the heck out of that GTI and loved every minute of it. I now have a CX-5 in my driveway and granted both cars serve a different purpose, the Mazda is just as awesome at what it does. I used to think VW

This is much better than the prototype they tested last year, and a system like this actually stands a chance at being approved for use on Swedish and US roads. The DOT really didn't care for the moose-obliterating missiles fired from the headlamps idea.

I know it's not a DSG, but the Skyactiv in our CX-5 feels great. Will the automatic 3's have shift paddles or just a +/- gate on the console shifter?

That accent is supposed to hark back to the RX-3:

Yes, my thoughts exactly. I saw a Maserati rub up quite a bit of Armco at the Glen at one track day. That bill was over $1k for the metal alone

Sadly, it looks like it's been found in LeMons condition:

without proper safety gear (gloves at least and who know what else is missing)

Well that's just a render by Autoweek. Here's another by Car & Driver:

The next iteration of the Miata will incorporate the Kodo design language. Render by Autoweek below (next to a render of Alfa's new roadster with which it will share a chassis).

Let's compromise and get one of these just as it is, except replace the white with BRG.

True, all 4 may not fit in the back but it could help facilitate fitting all 4 inside the car somewhere. I've seen NSX's carry their own track tires to events before and the passenger seat isn't off limits. This just might make the challenge a little easier.
